Vahid Emamian received his bachelor’s and master’s in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran in 1995 and 1997, respectively, and his Ph.D. from University of Minnesota in Electrical and Computer Engineering, in 2003. The focus of his Ph.D. thesis was “collaborative communications for cellular wireless networks.”

He joined St. Mary’s University in 2003 as an Assistant Professor of Engineering, and was elevated to Associate Professor in 2008.

Emamian is the founder and director of Control and Data Acquisition lab and Co-founder and Co-director of Wireless Security (WiSe) Lab. The labs were established in 2006 and 2009 using over $500,000 grants from the Education Department, the Department of Defense, Agilent Technology, and National Instrument.

Emamian is a Senior Member of IEEE and IEEE Communications Society, and reviews papers for several IEEE and IET journals. He has been an associated editor for IEEE Systems Journal since 2011 and the associated editor for Elsevier International Journal of Computers and Electrical Engineering since 2007.
