Each year, students attend national conferences that include business or leadership development through workshops, activities and interaction and allows for them to network with other students from across the nation and experience the culture of a different city. Examples of conferences attended in the past include participating in the National Conference on Student Leadership, which allows the Greehey Scholars to interact and learn from students from universities nationwide and hear important keynote addresses on issues such as overcoming adversity, establishing and attaining goals, and handling personal investments and finances.
Students also participate annually in the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO) Conference, which seeks to foster entrepreneurship in students. The conference features awards, speakers and panels that discuss a variety of topics on free enterprise and personal/business brand management. One of the primary attractions of this conference is the Elevator Pitch competition, which is a 90-second pitch of an idea for a product or service that a student has developed. Throughout the years our school has competed in this competition, we have had several students advance through the judging rounds, place and win.
