Mary Wagner-Krankel, Ph.D. has the distinction of being the first woman to teach full-time at St. Mary’s University (1992). She had taught previously at Hardin-Simmons University, University of Texas at Austin, and Ohio State University.

Wagner-Krankel became chair of St. Mary’s Mathematics Department in 2000.
