
About the Global Leadership Academy at St. Mary’s University
The Global Leadership Academy (GLA) is designed to give students the opportunity to explore career pathways, develop leadership skills, enhance problem-solving abilities, foster global citizenship and inspire future growth. Students achieve this through various activities.
Students will gain hands-on experience through faculty-led projects and simulations and build confidence through workshops rooted in the Marianist values of service and collaboration. They will prepare to engage as leaders in a diverse and interconnected world and strengthen cross-cultural understanding. At St. Mary’s, we encourage innovative thinking, ethical decision-making and a commitment to community, preparing students for future studies and careers.

$250 registration fee
$2,750 per studentA two-week program for high school students that combines career exploration with Marianist leadership formation. Maximum capacity of 20 participants per pathway. Registration fee is non-refundable. Register early to secure your spot.
Academy Goals
At the heart of the Global Leadership Academy is a commitment to forming leaders who embody the Marianist spirit of service, justice and community. Through this focus, students will:
- Explore the Seven Characteristics of Marianist Leadership as a foundation for personal and professional growth.
- Develop leadership skills rooted in service, justice and community.
- Strengthen their ability to collaborate, adapt and lead with empathy

About Career Pathways and Marianist Leadership
The Global Leadership Academy: Career Pathways and Marianist Leadership program at St. Mary’s University is a two-week camp for high school students that combines career exploration with Marianist leadership formation. Spots are limited, so students are encouraged to register early.

Career Pathways
Afternoons focus on leadership development rooted in service, collaboration and global citizenship, preparing participants to grow as innovation thinkers and compassionate leaders for their communities and future careers.
Choose from three available career pathways:

Engineering
solve problems that impact the world

Organizations of American States(OAS)
problem-solving through a hands-on simulation

Entrepreneurship
turn ideas into action
Engage in hands-on projects and simulations guided by faculty. Through this immersive experience, the Career Pathways will help students to:
- Engage in hands-on projects and real-world simulations.
- Spark curiosity and critical thinking in the exploration of diverse career fields.
- Build problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills.
- Connect career interests with leadership and community impact.
Career Pathways
Student Application Requirements
- Grade: High School Students entering 10–12 grade. No graduated seniors.
- Age: Students must be at least 15 years old by the time of the start of camp.
- Form Submissions: All required forms must be submitted prior to the start of GLA.
A chaperone is not required. Schools interested in sending a group should contact CIP for more information.

Student Application Requirements
Included in the Program

Lodging and Meals
Residence halls (double occupancy), on-campus meals, select off-campus meals, linens and room supplies.

Transportation
Airport pick-up/drop-off (San Antonio International Airport) and transportation for field trips.

Educational Experience
40 hours of faculty-led instruction, course materials and project supplies.

Excursions and Activities
Educational field trips to local sites connected to students’ chosen career pathways, plus tour of San Antonio historical sites and a day at Six Flags.
Not Included in the Program
Visa fees, personal expenses, travel insurance and travel expenses to/from San Antonio is not included in the program.
