The St. Mary’s University Department of Music and Theatre Arts is excited to welcome you to our annual Scholarship Auditions! Whether you’re a performer, designer or technician, we invite you to audition and showcase your exceptional theatrical abilities.

Eligibility
Theatre Scholarships are available for Theatre Minors and students who are planning to participate in productions. Students from all major areas and concentrations may audition.

Showcase your talents at prestigious productions hosted by St. Mary’s University and Student One Acts.
Productions
Each year, St. Mary’s Theatre mounts two full-staged productions — a play in the fall and a musical in the spring. Students also have the opportunity to hold leadership roles, such as direct Student One Acts, as undergraduates.

Join a vibrant community of fellow students of theatre who share your passion for theatre and the arts.
St. Mary’s Audition Details
Theatre Scholarship Auditions for the Fall 2026 semester are scheduled by appointment.
- Fill out the Register to Audition Form
- The Music and Theatre Arts department will contact you to schedule a date and time.
Audition Requirements
For performers/actors: Perform two contrasting monologues of your choice (1-2 minutes each) or perform a two-minute monologue and a song of your choice.
For designers and technicians: Provide a portfolio, physical example or renderings of your work. (Ex. garments sewn for performances, photos of lighting from performances, run-of-show notes, etc.)
Accompaniment
If performing a song, students must provide their own track. The Department of Music and Theatre Arts will provide a Bluetooth speaker.
Register to Audition
- Complete the Audition Registration Form
Include your theatre activities, honors and awards. - Prepare Your Audition
Practice your chosen audition repertoire. - Perform Your Audition
Meet the students and faculty of the Department of Music and Theatre Arts on your indicated audition day and perform your selected music.

Selection Process
- St. Mary’s University Theatre Faculty will evaluate the auditions based on skill, technique and artistic expression.
- Scholarship recipients will be notified via email.

If an interested student is not able to make one of those established dates, they may request to do an audition at another time throughout the year or, for those who live a distance away from campus, audition via Zoom.
