The St. Mary’s University Department of Music and Theatre Arts is excited to welcome you to our annual Scholarship Auditions! Whether you’re a vocalist, instrumentalist, composer, or music enthusiast, we invite you to audition and showcase your exceptional musical abilities.
This is your chance to shine and potentially receive financial support to further your musical education.

Eligibility
Music Scholarships are available for Music Majors, Music Minors and students participating in the performing ensembles. Students from all major areas and concentrations may audition.

Performance Opportunities
Showcase your talents at prestigious events and concerts hosted by St. Mary’s University.
Ensembles
Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Concert Choir, Jazz Orchestra, Guitar Ensemble, Mariachi, Opera/Musical and Rattler Band (Pep Band).

St. Mary’s Audition Details
Music Scholarship Auditions for the Fall 2025 semester are scheduled by appointment.
- Fill out the Register to Audition Form
- The Music and Theatre Arts department will contact you to schedule a date and time.
Audition Requirements
Perform two contrasting pieces of your choice. Selections may include, but are not limited to, a solo, etude or ensemble excerpt.
Accompaniment
Students may choose to perform their audition with or without accompaniment. Students may also bring an audio recording as accompaniment. The Department of Music and Theatre Arts will provide a Bluetooth speaker.
Percussion
The Department of Music and Theatre Arts will provide a Timpani, Marimba, Snare Drum, Drumset and Xylophone for percussion students to audition on. Students should bring their own sticks and mallets.

- Complete the Audition Registration Form
Include your musical activities, honors/awards, major instrument or voice. - Prepare Your Audition
Practice your chosen audition repertoire. - Perform Your Audition
Meet the students and faculty of the Department of Music and Theatre Arts on your indicated audition day and perform your selected music.
Selection Process
- St. Mary’s University Music Faculty will evaluate the auditions based on skill, technique and artistic expression.
- Scholarship recipients will be notified via email.
