ARKADELPHIA, Ark.–Farren Fox scored 13 points and the St. Mary’s University Rattlers had their best defensive showing of the season, holding Ouachita Baptist to just 41 points in a 60-41 win in women’s basketball action at the Lady Tiger Classic Friday night at Bill Vining Arena.

After a defensive first half that saw the teams combine for just 40 points, the Rattlers broke away early in the second half. St. Mary’s went on an 11-0 run to turn a 24-16 halftime lead into a 35-16 advantage. The lead would expand to as much as 22 in the game and the Rattlers were never headed from there.

Fox (So., Marble Falls) led all players with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field in just 22 minutes of play. Natalie Gamez (Jr., San Antonio) had 11 points, while Rachel Jones (Jr., Little Rock, Ark.) chipped in with nine points. Gabby Coleman was the only Tiger to score in double figures with 13 points.

With the win the Rattlers evened their record at 4-4 overall and have won three straight. OBU fell to 3-5. St. Mary’s will return to action on Saturday when they take on the University of Arkansas-Monticello.
