Graduate student orientation

Congratulations on your acceptance to St. Mary’s University!

To assist in your transition to graduate study at St. Mary’s, we offer a required online orientation program for all incoming masters and doctoral students. This online orientation course will introduce you to our institutional mission and heritage, policies and procedures, and student support services. You will learn the expectations for graduate level study and connect with fellow graduate students all before classes begin.

Beginning mid-November, you may expect an email detailing access instructions to Canvas, our online learning platform, to complete the online orientation course. This course should take approximately three (3) hours to complete and must be completed before the first day of class.

Additionally, we look forward to welcoming you on campus for the University Orientation for Graduate Students the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018. For this on campus event, check-in will begin at 5 p.m. in the lobby of the University Center with the event set to begin at 5:30 p.m. You can plan for the program to conclude by 7:30 p.m.

At this event, you will be introduced to the individuals and offices on campus that will support your studies. You will meet with your program director and other graduate students. Since your family members will be a critical source of support as you pursue your graduate degree, we invite them to join you at orientation.

Any questions may be directed to Director of Graduate Student Success, Anne Edmunds, Ed.D. by email or by phone at 210-436-3498.

We look forward to welcoming you to the St. Mary’s family!
