Earnest Broughton, Greehey School of Business’ MBA and Executive Education Program Director, has been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute’s as one of 100 individuals to have “made a material impact in the world of business ethics and compliance.”

Broughton was included on the group’s annual 100 Most Influential in Business Ethics list alongside professors and program directors from Harvard Business School, University of Pennsylvania, Notre Dame Deloitte Center for Ethical Leadership and University of Chicago.

“I have always derived a great deal of satisfaction from my work in the ethics and compliance space,” Broughton said. “One of the things I’ve always appreciated about being a part of an organization is that each of us can multiply and leverage our influence and impact through thousands of other people to whom we’re connected by shared experience, mission and values. But it has to be the right enterprise. I consider myself fortunate to be associated with an academic institution where the importance of ethics and values are so deeply baked into our organizational DNA.”

Broughton has been with St. Mary’s since August 2011. He co-founded the Greater San Antonio Ethics and Compliance Roundtable with Professor Matthew Gilley, Ph.D., Greehey Chair in Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility.

“If you see the other people being recognized, he is in very good company,” said Tanuja Singh, D.B.A., Dean of the Greehey School of Business.

The list includes leaders in 11 categories: Academics, Business Leadership, Corporate Culture, Design & Sustainability, Governance, Government and Regulatory, Investment and Research, Media and Whistleblowers, Non-governmental Organization, Philanthropy, and Thought Leadership.

“I’m proud any time I see St. Mary’s name alongside universities such as Harvard, Penn State, Babson, and Notre Dame,” Broughton said. “I think this recognition says that the Greehey School of Business and St. Mary’s have a special calling to promote ethical and compliant business practices.”
