St. Mary’s University is changing its academic year. Instead of beginning the academic year (academic classification, tuition rates, and financial aid eligibility) with summer sessions, the summer sessions will actually end the academic year. The 2007-2008 academic year will actually start with Summer I, 2007 and end with Summer II, 2008.

This has many positive implications for students, one of which is a potential increase in Stafford Loan eligibility. This can have a positive impact on undergraduate and graduate/professional students, although the greatest benefit may be reaped by undergraduate students attending summer sessions full time.
