Summer Camps at St. Mary’s

St. Mary’s offers a variety of summer camps designed to inspire and inform. Camps vary in length and subject; some of our most popular offerings include our Tech Camps and Musical Theatre Camp. Many camps are designed for middle school or high school students, while some are for much younger participants.

  • STEM Camps

    • Game Development Camp

      SET Tech Camps

      Tech Camps include 10, one-week long camps for high school students about technology fields at St. Mary’s University taught by University professors.

      Designed for high school students, these campers may apply for up to three camps. Each camp meets Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during various weeks in the summer between June and July.

    • Launch K5 Computer Science Workshop Teachers work together

      Launch_K5 Computer Science Teacher Professional Development

      Launch_K5 CS is a dynamic 3-day hybrid workshop designed for K-5 educators, crafted to align seamlessly with the new K-5 Technology Applications TEKS set to be implemented in the 2025-2026 school year.

      Dive into an engaging experience that integrates computational thinking, computer science, cybersecurity and AI into core curricula, offering educators a unique opportunity to enhance their teaching approaches.

    • Test flights can be conducted in the Drone Lab.

      Drone Piloting Summer Camp

      At Drone Camp, students will be introduced to drone concepts and operations. They will fly, build and program drones from scratch. The camp will emphasize the safe, legal and ethical use of drones as well as educate on drone application and careers.

      Drone Camp is designed for high school students and students admitted to the School of Science, Engineering and Technology who have not declared a major.

      Engineering and 3D Printing Summer Camp

      Have you ever imagined making a racing car, a bridge, a battery or a light bulb? St. Mary’s University offers a four-day camp that will teach the basics behind engineering. Participants will present their engineering concepts to the class and partake in competitions.

      This camp is open to incoming 9th – 12th grade students.

      Environmental Science Summer Camp

      This is a 4-day camp at St. Mary’s with a focus on understanding how scientists study and communicate their findings about the world we live in.

      Students will learn how to document location using GPS and how to map environmental characteristics in GIS software.

  • Arts and Humanities Camps

      Band and Color Guard Camp

      St. Mary’s University’s Department of Music and Theatre Arts hosts a week-long Band and Color Guard Camp during the summer to help middle school and high school students advance their musicianship. Participants will work with exceptional teachers and performers, including a guest artist, on their instruments during a full day of rehearsals, sectional, technique classes and elective classes.

      The camp is open to middle school and high school students in grades 6-12.

      Musical Theatre Camp

      St. Mary’s Musical Theatre Camp is a fun and unique experience that offers students ages 13-19 the opportunity to learn a full-length Broadway musical in just one week. Ending the week with two performances free to the public, every student will have a chance to showcase skills learned on the stage or behind the scenes.

      Students will also come together in the evenings for a fun and faith-filled retreat, where they will support each other and grow closer as an ensemble.

      Orchestra Camp

      St. Mary’s University proudly presents the first annual Summer Orchestra Camp this June! Join us for a structured week of orchestra rehearsals, technique classes, fun electives and a final concert. The camp is open to middle school and high school students in grades 6-12.

    • Students in the Wayfinders Program at St. Mary's University go on a pilgrimage and walk around the San Antonio missions.

      Wayfinders

      If you are drawn to big questions about life and how to live it, or want to explore those ideas with others while serving, learning and spending time with peers, then Wayfinders is for you.

      High school students and college freshmen, join us for a four-day experience that blends intellectual inquiry, community life and hands-on service. Through philosophy, meditation, community and service work, draw on the depths of the Catholic and Marianist traditions to help you think about where your life is headed and why it matters.

  • Global Camps

    • Students pick up papers and talk to each other in the classroom as they work together on an assignment.

      Global Leadership Academy Summer Camp

      The Global Leadership Academy (GLA) Summer Camp is open to high school students in and outside of the United States. GLA camp is designed to give students the opportunity to explore career pathways, develop leadership skills, enhance problem-solving abilities, foster global citizenship and inspire future growth. Students achieve this through various activities.

      Global Educators’ Academy Summer Camps

      The Global Educators’ Academy (GEA) Summer Camps offer international educators an immersive experience combining U.S. pedagogical principles with English language and cultural instruction. Participants will engage in workshops, discussions and activities designed to enhance their teaching skills and cultural understanding in an authentic learning environment specifically tailored for K-12 educators.

  • Esports Camp

    • Esports Camp

      The St. Mary’s Esports Summer Camps provide boys and girls an opportunity to learn and compete in the growing world of esports. Camps include introductory sessions geared toward all skill levels and more competitive camps that teach specialized fundamentals and mechanics for popular titles such as League of Legends and Rocket League.

      Esports camps are open to all campers ages 13-18.
