Biography

Nicole Kirpalani. Ph.D., joined the Greehey School of Business as a Lecturer in the Department of Management and Marketing in the fall of 2023.

Kirpalani earned a Ph.D. in Business (Marketing) from the City University of New York, where she was a doctoral fellowship recipient. She also holds a Master of Science in Secondary Education (Business Education) and a Master of Business Administration degree in Marketing from Hofstra University. Her higher education career followed several years of global industry experience in marketing and finance.

Prior to joining St. Mary’s University, Kirpalani held the rank of full professor at a college in New York City, where she spent the last thirteen years of her academic career. She has taught both Marketing and Management courses, ranging from introductory undergraduate and honors courses to MBA-level courses. Kirpalani is well versed in hybrid, virtual and online teaching formats and holds a Teaching Online Certificate from Quality Matters. At her previous institution, she served as a liaison between her department and the Office of Learning Innovation, where she assisted other faculty members with their course development and teaching approaches. Kirpalani has developed multiple new courses, both on the undergraduate and graduate level. She has participated in many college-wide committees such as strategic planning, IRB and accreditation. She previously served as associate chair and chair of her department. Kirpalani is the recipient of a Teaching Excellence Award and was inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta and Delta Mu Delta honor societies as a faculty member.

Kirpalani has presented and published numerous articles on topics such as consumer co-creation in the service context, consumer-brand relationships, and sustainability in the fashion industry. She has also focused on teaching innovations and technology use in the classroom as part of her research. Her work was published in Psychology & Marketing, the Journal of Marketing Management, and Marketing Education Review, among others.
