Who: St. Mary’s University Open Stage Theatre presents a Sesquicentennial production of

What: “Prometheus Bound,” a Greek tragedy written by Aeschylus (c.525-c.456 BC).

He wanted Greek drama to deal with profound moral and religious concepts. In his third surviving play, “Prometheus Bound,” Aeschylus examines the myth of Prometheus, the world’s first humanitarian. Zeus, a harsh god, punishes the Titan Prometheus for giving the gift of fire to mortals without the consent of the gods.

The production is based on the David Grene translation.
