Family Life Center

The Family Life Center, a training center for graduate students in the Department of Counseling and Human Services at St. Mary’s University, provides counseling for individuals, couples and families on a sliding scale. We also offer a number of free services, including play therapy for military families. Clients receive the highest quality of services from clinicians-in-training under the supervision of University faculty.

Counseling Services and Testing Services

The St. Mary’s University Student Psychological and Testing Services is a comprehensive service providing a full range of programs designed to meet the needs of a diverse student population.

  • Individual counseling, couples/group counseling, disability-related services, and testing for possible disabilities. Counselors are trained by the Center for Deployment Psychology to work with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
  • CLEP Exams (Note: DOD pays for the CLEP fee of $80; student responsible for the $20 service fee).
  • DSST (Dantes) Exams (Proctoring for online course exams available at no charge).

Learning Assistance Center & Tutoring

The Learning Assistance Center is a learner-oriented service that provides academic support and instructional resources to the students, staff and faculty of St. Mary’s University. Our services are free.

Financial Aid

The Office of Financial Assistance connects students and families with the financial resources required to finance a St. Mary’s education. Our staff works personally with students and their families to explain available options and help them to choose the best methods to meet the cost of attendance. St. Mary’s participates in the Yellow Ribbon, VA education benefits, and military tuition assistance programs.
