Sociology

In the Department of Sociology at St. Mary’s University, students cultivate an understanding of the scientific study of human interactions, relationships, and structures in groups, organizations, and communities. Students learn how to ask and answer complex social questions using applied quantitative and qualitative research and learning experiences in and out of the classroom.

Our goal is to graduate Sociology majors who advocate for social justice, respect human dignity of all persons, promote cultural humility and competence, and apply their professional skills in their responses to the needs of communities at home and abroad.
