Biography

Anthony J. Pogorelc is the Sociology Scholar in Residence at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. A Sulpician priest, he has held faculty and administrative positions in seminaries in Washington, D.C., Menlo Park California and San Antonio, Texas. He holds an M.Div. from St. Michael’s College of the University of Toronto, an S.T.L. from St. Mary’s Seminary and University, Baltimore and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Purdue University.  

Specializing in the sociology of religion, his research has focused on social movements and organizations, young adults and professional ministers. He is a member of the American Sociological Association (ASA), The Society for the Scientific Study of Religion (SSSR), The Association for the Sociology of Religion (ASR) and The Religious Research Association (RRA).
