Philosophy has been part of the heritage of St. Mary's University throughout its history. The philosophy department offers an undergraduate major and minor program, courses in the core curriculum, and graduate courses through other departments. The Philosophy Department emphasizes the foundations and history of philosophy, ethics, and applied philosophy. All St. Mary's students are required to take nine hours of philosophy. In a New Generation of College Students, Many Opt for the Life Examined Philosophy is being embraced by a new generation of college students as they try to make sense of a world full of moral dilemmas, such as the Iraq war or the latest political scandal. |
