We understand the importance of making informed decisions when choosing a college or university. Investing in an educational experience of the highest quality can guide your student to a successful career path.

Explore the indicators that speak to the St. Mary’s University advantage: strong outcomes, quality academics and affordable education.

Strong Outcomes

Return on investment is perhaps the biggest factor families consider when choosing a college or university — and graduates of St. Mary’s find significant opportunities for success. This is why the Brookings Institution, a renowned independent think tank, ranked St. Mary’s 17th among the nation’s four-year universities for its contribution to the financial success of its mid-career graduates.

Career success begins in the classroom, where St. Mary’s students develop crucial technical and professional skills. The staff in the Career and Professional Development Center work with students and alumni in all stages of career development, helping them prepare for and secure professional and service-based opportunities including internships, job shadows and post-graduate employment.

A St. Mary’s education is about more than career success, which our graduates frequently enjoy. The Catholic and Marianist tradition compels us to educate students to become ethical leaders who impact their communities in positive ways. These values surround our students from the moment they step onto campus and drive graduates long after they leave.

Quality Academics

St. Mary’s offers a challenging, community-oriented learning environment. Collaboration is our key to student success in and out of the classroom.

With a student-to-teacher ratio of 11:1 and an average class size of 17, students have the opportunity for mentorship by St. Mary’s professors. Learning extends beyond the classroom; many times, students conduct research alongside professors and find real-world career opportunities through internships in San Antonio, across the U.S. and internationally.

Many of our programs are accredited by the top accrediting organizations in their fields, including many of our business and engineering programs.

Affordable Education

Aggressive scholarship and financial aid programs reflect St. Mary’s commitment to keeping private education in the Catholic and Marianist tradition affordable. Financial assistance is available in many different forms, including grants, scholarships, work-study programs, and federal or private loans. Some financial assistance is merit-based, like scholarships, while other financial assistance is based on financial need.

Families of all income levels are strongly encouraged to apply for financial assistance by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). Submit the FAFSA® by February 15, our priority deadline, to ensure results are received by St. Mary’s prior to our financial assistance priority deadline of March 1 (extended to May 6, 2024, for the 2024-2025 academic year). This will allow the Office of Financial Assistance to prepare the most efficient package for your student for the upcoming fall semester.

Education and preparation are essential when determining how to pay for college. Refer to Federal Student Aid for helpful information about understanding college costs, scholarships, loans and loan repayment, applying for aid, and much more.

And St. Mary’s Office of Financial Assistance is here to help. Contact us with your questions at 210-436-3141 or finaid@stmarytx.edu.
