Biography
Destiny Orr, Ph.D., joined St. Mary’s University’s Greehey School of Business in Fall 2026 as an Assistant Professor of Management. She earned her Ph.D. in Management and MBA from Mississippi State University.
Orr has taught a variety of management courses, including Principles of Management, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management, across face-to-face, hybrid and online formats.
Her teaching is grounded in the belief that students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process. She values creating opportunities for students to immerse themselves in course material and take a collaborative role in the classroom. She strives to create an engaging and equitable learning environment where students’ experiences and perspectives are welcomed, differences are respected and learning is viewed as a shared process.
Her research interests include underrepresented minority entrepreneurship, family firms, and workplace behavior and well-being. Her work has been published in journals including Journal of Small Business Management and International Journal of Business Communication.
