St. Mary’s President Charles L. Cotrell, Ph.D, and other University representatives traveled to Santiago, Chile, and Lima, Peru, earlier this month to visit with potential international students and parents and to reconnect with alumni.

Ruben Candia, Ph.D., accompanied Cotrell in Chile before the president headed to Peru where a function was held for 160 parents and potential students from Colegio Santa Maria and Colegio Maria Reina, two high schools in Lima, the capital of Peru.

Cotrell was joined by Tom Galvin, vice president of University Advancement; Admissions Director Rick Castillo; and Pete Hansen, director of major gifts and planned giving, in Peru where a private dinner also was held for 24 Peruvian alumni.

Hansen says the trip illustrates the University’s commitment to attract more international students and rekindle St. Mary’s relationship with South America.
