Date: 2006-07-20 Author: Gina Farrell
![]() The Bill Greehey School of Business at St. Mary’s University has been rated as an outstanding business school by The Princeton Review and will be listed among the best in the nation this fall. The Greehey School of Business will be included in the 2007 edition of The Princeton Review’s “Best 282 Business Schools,” which will be available in October. The Princeton Review is a New York-based education services company, which surveys programs annually. “This national recognition of the academic quality of the Greehey School of Business is an indicator of our efforts to educate the whole person by offering both a quality education and a strong sense of ethics and community,” said Charles L. Cotrell, Ph.D., president of St. Mary’s. “While the specific criteria for this honor are not yet clear, it is our commitment to academic excellence, personal achievement and community service that sets a St. Mary’s education apart.” Although details on why specific schools were selected will not be available until closer to publication, vice president and publisher of Princeton Review Robert Franek said three main criteria went into the selection process: academic programs, institutional data collected and opinions of students attending the school. “Our mission at St. Mary’s and in the Bill Greehey School of Business is to offer a leading-edge business education, while instilling in our students a sense of ethics and civic involvement that will make them the leaders of tomorrow,” said Keith Russell, dean of the business school. “It is a high accolade to be recognized as one of the best business schools. It speaks directly to the quality and dedication of both our faculty and staff, and our students.” The Bill Greehey School of Business was dedicated last spring in honor of Bill Greehey, chairman of the board of Valero Energy Corp., who made an unprecedented gift of $25 million to St. Mary’s University. St. Mary’s University is a Catholic and Marianist university fostering the formation of people in faith and educating leaders for the common good through community, academic excellence, and integrated liberal arts and professional education programs. Founded by the Society of Mary in 1852, St. Mary’s is the oldest Catholic university in Texas and the Southwest. | |||||
