Biomedical Engineering at St. Mary’s
At St. Mary’s University, we lead the way in preparing the next generation of biomedical researchers to meet challenges head-on and pave the way for medical field advancements. Beginning Fall 2026, pending SACSCOC approval*, the new Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering equips students with the technical, professional and ethical skills needed to solve complex biomedical problems and develop solutions that address public health.

Program of Study
The curriculum emphasizes hands-on laboratory work, design projects and collaborative team experiences. By merging engineering and applied sciences, the program provides students with a rigorous foundation in engineering, mathematics and the life sciences, preparing them to address challenges at the intersection of technology and human health.

Degree Plan
The Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering is a 128-credit-hour program. Students choose one of three concentrations and complete a senior design capstone project and a supervised internship before graduating.
