PEACE/POLICE OFFICER

PART TIME PEACE/POLICE OFFICER

Part-time position, 3rd Shift (8pm to 6am). With minimal supervision from the Department leadership, the University Peace (Police) Officer will enforce laws (federal, state or local), University Traffic and Parking Regulations and violations of the code of conduct throughout the campus. The Peace (Police) Officer will also act as an ambassador for the University and serve the community in a joint effort, where University Police Department members, students, faculty, staff, visitors and neighbors of St. Mary’s University create the reality of a safe and secure environment for this higher education community founded by the Society of Mary. DUTIES: Conduct proactive patrol of all campus property by foot, bicycle and/or motor vehicle in order to deter crimes against persons and property. Detect violations of Federal, State and local laws. Take appropriate actions in accordance with those laws, the Texas code of Criminal Procedure, and department policies and procedures. Enforce parking regulations and issue citations as required. Enforce Texas State Traffic Laws and issue citations as required. EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s Degree or higher degree preferred. EXPERIENCE: Must be a certified Peace Officer as established by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards for Education. Experience in law enforcement preferred. CERTIFICATION: TCLEOSE Peace Officer certification. Applicant must have a valid Texas Driver’s License with a favorable driving record.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business systems or equivalent fields; two or more years experience in an enterprise web development environment or combination of education programs equal to a bachelor's degree. The Bill Greehey School of Business, St. Mary’s University, is seeking to fill a tenure-track position in International Business at the assistant or associate professor level. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

St. Mary’s University of San Antonio, a private, Catholic university invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Biological Sciences beginning August 2010. We are seeking a life scientist with expertise in an area of biology that will complement the current strengths of the department. The primary responsibilities of this position will be teaching two courses with associated laboratory per semester. Although applications from faculty in all life science disciplines are encouraged, candidates that are capable of teaching general physiology will be given special consideration. The preference for the additional course to be developed by the candidate could include endocrinology, toxicology or a similar subject area. While teaching is the primary function of the position, research, especially involving undergraduates, is expected of the successful candidate. The presence of an active biomedical research community in the San Antonio area provides the opportunity to establish collaborative research projects in many fields. A Ph.D. in Biology or a related discipline is required and postdoctoral experience is preferred.
