Biography

Jiyoung Moon, Ph.D., is a visiting assistant professor and practicum/internship coordinator of the Department of Counseling and Human Services at St. Mary’s University. Moon is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT). Additionally, she has completed advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She has worked in various community mental health settings focusing on trauma for all ages in South Korea and in the United States.

Her clinical focus includes physical and sexual trauma in children and adults, developmental trauma and generational trauma. Her primary interests in counselor education are play therapy, trauma/crisis counseling and multicultural/diversity issues.
