Have you wondered what it would be like to run through time, all the way back to the 1800s? Jog or walk through history on the scenic St. Mary’s University campus during its 12th annual 5K run/walk on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The 2026 StMU 5K for the Neighborhood welcomes runners, walkers and their leashed dogs to traverse a 3.1-mile, double-loop course, weaving between beautifully preserved buildings constructed in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the University’s next-door neighbor, Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The race is part of Family Weekend, during which Rattlers and their families are invited to a weekend full of live music, athletic games, Mass and more.

“St. Mary’s University invites our community members to walk or run through our historic campus as they help raise money for a great cause, our dear neighbor, Holy Rosary Catholic Church,” said St. Mary’s University President Winston Erevelles, Ph.D. “Every year, we look forward to showcasing our family spirit and mission of service at the StMU 5K for the Neighborhood.”

The StMU 5K encourages all its participants to “Run with Purpose” and take part in the University’s ongoing effort to enhance the quality of life through neighborhood revitalization. St. Mary’s strives to be a vital partner in promoting the health and wellness, education and safety of the community surrounding the campus.

This year, Erevelles will join St. Mary’s Alumni Association President Mike Martinez (B.A. ’85) as the event’s honorary starters.
