Microsoft Windows
KMS Activation
Key Management Service (KMS) is on line for license activation and functioning properly; no license key required as long as the laptop is on the St. Mary's University network.
The laptop will renew its license on a default 7 day cycle, and must renew within 180 or the laptop will enter what is referred to as Reduced Functionality Mode (RFM). Getting out of RFM requires the laptop to get back to the STMU network. Fac/Staff who travel for more than 180 days at a time should connect to the STMU net over a VPN every so often as long as they are not in RFM. The auto renewal for those who are not in RFM is silent.
