Art of Peace Award:
The 2008 recipient of the Art of Peace Award went to H. Palmer Hall, Director Louis J. Blume Library at St. Mary's University. Hall's first book, "A Measured Response," is an anthology of poems written by Vietnam War veterans in response to the first Persia Gulf War.
His second book, "From the Periphery: Poems and Essays," deals with his personal experiences in Vietnam, including protests against the war while an active-duty soldier and signing an anti-war petition that was published in the New York Times. Turning Point Press will publish Hall's selected poems, "Foreign and Domestic," forthcoming in 2009.
