About the Seminar
The theme of this summer's study tour is: Conflict Transformation in the Balkans: Theory and Practice.
Who Should Participate?
Graduate students in International Relations at St. Mary's University are welcome to participate in this seminar. The trip is limited to 10 participants. Students may enroll for three hours of academic credit in the Summer One session.
Academic Credit
This seminar is a three hour credit graduate course in International Relations at St. Mary's University or a graduate elective in Business at St. Mary's University.
Cost
Travel cost is approximately $3000.00. This covers airfare, ground transportation in country, meals, lodging, and seminars. Tuition cost is extra.
Participating graduate students are required to earn three hours of graduate credit for this seminar through St. Mary's University. (Tuition costs are separate.)
Travel scholarship monies are not available at this time.
How to be a part of the Study Tour
After giving e-mail notice of intent to participate, students 1) schedule an appointment (phone or on-campus) with Dr. Tyler to discuss their reason for wanting to attend the Summer Study Tour; 2) Submit first deposit by date to be determined; and 3) sign a pledge of participation. We utilize modest local hotels for lodging.
You can generally expect to be housed two to a room, with shared bathrooms.
Trip Leaders
Dr. Aaron Tyler is Chair of the Graduate International Relations Department whose expertise is in areas of religion and politics and conflict resolution.
Application and Payment
As with previous years, students participating in the study tour for graduate course credit qualify for financial aid. All students must make the first deposit to hold their position. Students utilizing financial aid are required to provide verification from St. Mary's Financial Aid office that the remaining balance will be covered prior to departure.
