University Development is one of three branches of the University Advancement Division that supports the University's mission by continuously communicating to external and internal constituencies the unique characteristics of a Marianist education. The Division serves as the chief fundraising, alumni relations and communications component of the University responsible for keeping alumni, friends, corporations and foundations connected to the mission of St. Mary's University.

University Development annually raises funds to meet those priorities that help to carry out St. Mary's mission as identified by the University's leadership. Among the various programs and activities conducted by University Development are the annual fund campaign, solicitation of major gifts, planned giving and estate planning programs, prospect research, data base updates and enhancements, cultivation and stewardship of donors, and the execution of capital campaigns and other special fundraising campaigns.
