DANIEL C. RIGNEYProfessor Ph.D., Sociology, University of Texas (Austin), 1975. His areas of special interest include Sociological Theory, Sociology of Knowledge, Sociology of Religion, and Social Issues. Dr. Rigney is the author of The Metaphorical Society: An Invitation to Social Theory. Other recent publications include an article in The Futurist on the social implications of artificially-enhanced intelligence and (with Drs. Matz and Abney) a study of the Catholic sharing ethic in The Sociology of Religion. He is currently at work on a book tentatively entitled The Matthew Effect: How Advantage Begets Further Advantage.
