Biography

Madison Wooldridge is an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering at
St. Mary’s University, working to educate the future generation of manufacturing leaders. She joined St. Mary’s in October 2024.

Wooldridge attended Texas A&M University for her Bachelors and Masters degrees and spent ten years in industry before pursuing her Ph.D. in Paderborn, Germany. During her time in industry, she served as a primary driver of the adoption and advancement of Metal Additive Manufacturing in the Oil and Gas industry.

Among other accomplishments, she successfully qualified Nickel-based Superalloy 718 for use in standard downhole environments and developed the material to achieve strength and fatigue performance comparable to conventional material. Wooldridge has published her research in both peer-reviewed journals and in multiple leading conference proceedings and holds two patents related to advancement in Metal Additive Manufacturing processes.

She is actively involved in outreach activities focused on increasing enrollment of students in STEM fields and as faculty advisor for the Society of Women Engineers at St. Mary’s, is passionate about supporting and increasing diversity in technical fields.

When not in the classroom or lab, she is an avid gardener, enjoys hiking, running, reading and spending time with her family. Having lived eight years in Germany, she is always looking for someone to practice her German with.
