FORT SMITH, Ark. – The St. Mary’s men’s golf team will do everything it can Tuesday to ensure a 10th straight trip to the NCAA Regional Tournament.
The Rattlers enter the third and final round of the Heartland Conference Tournament 16 strokes off the lead, sitting in fourth place at Arkansas-Fort Smith.
Sam Jernigan (Sr., San Antonio) tied for ninth place on the opening day after carding a two-round score of 146, while freshman Kyle Becker (San Antonio) had an opening-round 70 en route to posting a 146 on the day to tie for 13th place.
Matthew Van Winkle (Fr., Castroville, Texas) isn’t far behind in 16th place at 148, while Chris Becker (Sr., San Antonio) is tied for 17th at 150. Shawn Bennett (So., Marion, Texas) shot 151.
Host Arkansas-Fort Smith leads the event at 569, while Lion Ethan Adamson leads the individual standings at 142.
