San Antonio – Winners of 13 straight and victorious in 24 of their last 26 games, the St. Mary’s Rattlers will open up next week’s Heartland Conference Baseball Tournament as the unquestioned No. 1 seed.

St. Mary’s, ranked No. 4 in several national polls, won the conference’s regular-season championship and will host the tournament from May 12-14 at V.J. Keefe Field.

The Rattlers (42-8 overall) will play No. 4-seeded Texas A&M International (19-31) at 5 p.m. Thursday in the double-elimination tournament, while second-seeded St. Edward’s (25-22) and No. 3 Texas-Permian Basin (24-25) will open up the tournament with a 1 p.m. tilt that day.

Games 3-5 will be held Friday, with the loser’s bracket launching the day’s slate of action at 12 p.m. The winner’s bracket game will begin at 3:30 p.m., with Game 5 set for 7 p.m. The championship game is slated for 1 p.m. Saturday.

Single-game tickets will cost $6 for adults and $3 for students. Tournament passes are also available at the gate for $15.

St. Mary’s had 65 percent of its athletes named to conference, regional and/or national honor rolls this past year.
