It’s been a great weekend for St. Mary’s University Athletics. Three teams — Women’s Golf, Baseball and Softball — are advancing in their respective tournaments in the NCAA Division II.
Women’s Golf
After a one-year hiatus, the Women’s Golf team is advancing to the 2026 Division II NCAA Women’s Championship after finishing fourth in the West Regional at the Pueblo Country Club in Pueblo, Colorado.
The team shot a 923 to end 16 shots off the winning total of 907 by Cal State San Marcos. Dallas Baptist University (914) and host Colorado State-Pueblo (916) also finished ahead of the Rattlers.
The Rattlers qualify for their fifth appearance in the NCAA Championship, and their second time in three years. In 2024, St. Mary’s was the national runner-up, and they tied for third in 2021. The other two appearances were a fifth-place finish in 2017 and sixth place in 2003.
The NCAA Championship will begin Tuesday and run through Saturday at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Earlier this season, the Rattlers finished eighth at the DII National Preview held on the same course.
Softball
The St. Mary’s University Softball team is also making a return to the playoffs, securing their spot in the NCAA South Central Regional for the 19th time since 2001.
The Rattlers (30-22) earned the eight-seed in the region and will face the top-seeded, and ranked No. 6 in the nation, Colorado Christian in the first game on Thursday, May 14, at 1 p.m. CST.
St. Mary’s is 38-26 all-time in the NCAA Regionals and has won the event six times (2002, 2003, 2005, 2014, 2015 and 2016) and won the 2002 National Championship.
Baseball
Finally, the St. Mary’s Baseball team has earned the four seed at the NCAA South Central Regional, making their first appearance since 2015 and seventh overall.
The Rattlers (38-17) will rematch with Lubbock Christian (34-21), which knocked St. Mary’s out of the Lone Star Conference Tournament, in the opening game. The winner will face the top-ranked Colorado Mesa University Mavericks.
The game is scheduled for 4 p.m., Thursday.
