Longtime Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne Jr. spoke about his book, “Our Divided Political Heart,” March 19 at St. Mary’s University as part of the Lin Great Speakers Series.

Dionne spent 14 years at The New York Times covering local, state and national politics; he also served as a foreign correspondent in Paris, Rome and Beirut before joining The Washington Post in 1990. He has written his twice-weekly column for the Post since 1993. He is a frequent commentator on politics for National Public Radio, ABC’s “This Week,” and NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Dionne, a professor at Georgetown University and a senior fellow at The Brookings Institution, is also an award-winning author who has written several books on American politics. He’ll be available to sign books at the event.

Since 1990, St. Mary’s University has offered the Lin Great Speakers Series to the public as a community service. The series is made possible by an endowment established in the memory of Shu Chi Lin by his widow, Mrs. Chang Le-Chiao, and his son, Vincent Lin, an alumnus and former St. Mary’s faculty member.
