San Antonio – The Lady Rattlers aced their serves as their Valentine’s Day sweet Tuesday, picking up three points against Trinity University in a 6-3 defeat.

St. Mary’s now holds an 0-3 start to the season but is showing glimmers of its potential success this year.

Junior Elisha Bryant (Plano, Texas) was triumphant in her singles match by a long yard, defeating Stephanie Williamson 6-1, 6-4. Bryant became accustomed to victory Tuesday as she and fellow Rattler Kelly Cooper (Sr., San Antonio) went down the wire in their doubles match, coming out ahead, 9-7.

Angelique De Oliveira (Sr., Wattrelos, France) also wore the Rattler blue and gold well at the other end of the court, and did it with a fight. De Oliveira nearly missed a win in the first match against Tiger Katie Griffith, falling 6-7. But De Oliveira wanted another victory to the Rattlers’ name and came out swinging in match two to stomp Griffith, 6-2, forcing a third set to determine the victor. De Oliveira held tough for the win to come out ahead 10-7, closing out Valentine’s with a victory in her name.

Rattler Huong Huynh (Sr., Houston) also saw a three-set battle but fell to the Tigers 1-6, 6-2, 10-5.

The Rattlers will get a chance to topple their matches in their favor Friday against Midwestern State University on the St. Mary’s Tennis Courts at 3 p.m.
