San Antonio – St. Mary’s baseball standouts Tyler Migl, Carl O’Neal and M.P. Cokinos have all been added to the 2012 Tino Martinez Award Watch List, College Baseball Lineup announced over the weekend.
The annual honor, named after the former University of Tampa Spartan and Major League Baseball All-Star, is awarded to the most outstanding player in Division II college baseball.
Migl, a senior first baseman from San Antonio, was the Heartland Conference Player of the Year last season, while O’Neal (Jr., San Antonio) was an All-Conference pitcher a year ago. Cokinos (Jr., Houston), a catcher who transferred from the University of Houston, was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team two years ago.
The winner, which won’t be limited to those named on the initial watch list, will be announced following the D-II baseball championship game in Cary, N.C., on June 2.
