San Antonio – St. Mary’s fell behind early and couldn’t catch up in its season finale in men’s soccer, dropping an across-the-town match to No. 9 Incarnate Word, 4-0.

Former Rattler Uros Ceglaj scored in the ninth minute and the Cardinals never looked back, tacking on additional goals in the 30th, 33rd and 41st minutes to get the non-conference victory and improve to 13-3-1 on the season.

The Rattlers (5-11-1) tallied eight shots but couldn’t connect, led by Jack Wolf’s three shots and one shot on goal. Goalkeeper Patrick Kasperitis (RS-Jr., Corpus Christi, Texas) saved four shots but also allowed four goals against the red-hot Cardinals. St. Mary’s was outshot 16-8 in the contest.

The Rattlers finished tied for third place in conference with a 4-5-1 league record.
