AUSTIN, Texas – Hiding behind Marcin Marczewski’s fun-loving, Texas-crazed persona is what the Poland native displayed on the tennis court Saturday morning.

He is a Texas-sized competitor.

Taking a point off the 20th-ranked team in the nation, Marczewski (Sr., Warsaw, Poland) knocked off St. Edward’s Ned Boone 1-6, 6-4, 10-8 in a spirited three-set game.

St. Edward’s won the match 8-1, as Boone and Ed Bencke teamed to avenge the singles loss with an 8-3 doubles victory over Marczewski and Jake Williams (Sr., Dallas).

Williams forced Bencke to work in singles play, but ultimately fell 6-3, 6-0 as the Rattlers dropped their Heartland Conference opener.

The Rattlers, who are 0-6 this season, will take the court again eyeing their first team win at Collin County Community College at 10 a.m. next Friday.
