San Antonio – St. Mary’s forward/center Kevin Kotzur has once again been identified as one of the best men’s basketball players in the region.

Kotzur, a junior from La Vernia, Texas, has been named to the 2012 National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District Team, it was recently announced.

Kotzur, who led the Rattlers (19-9) with 17.9 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game last season, made the NABC All-District Second Team after finishing as the Heartland Conference leader in both points and rebounds. He also finished the regular season third in the nation in shooting percentage, finishing the year at 66.0 percent from the floor.

Kotzur was also recently named to the Daktronics All-Region Second Team – the third straight year he earned that honor – and was voted the Most Valuable Player of the Heartland Conference Tournament.

Having quickly emerged as an all-time great at St. Mary’s, Kotzur ranks No. 8 on the school’s all-time scoring chart with 1,453 career points and No. 3 on the all-time rebounding list with 714 career boards.

The Rattlers made their first national-tournament appearance since 2008 this season, falling to eventual South Central Region champion Midwestern State 62-54 in the opening round.
