LAWTON, Okla. – Road trips can make or break a team. This one has certainly made the Rattlers.

The St. Mary’s volleyball team reeled off its seventh straight win Saturday – its sixth straight on the road – after eking out a 3-2 victory over Cameron University.

Trailing 2-0, the Rattlers (10-5) stormed back behind dominant performances from Jenna Paul (Fr., Alvin, Texas) and Kelsey Huber (So., San Antonio), both of whom had 15 kills for St. Mary’s. Victorria Martinez (So., Arlington, Texas) added 22 digs and Allie Murray (Sr., San Antonio) had 31 assists as the Rattlers won the final three sets 25-22, 25-20 and 19-17 after dropping the first two 25-19, 25-21.

Huber’s service ace provided the winning points to cap off a wild fifth set that saw St. Mary’s claw back from a 13-8 deficit to win in extra points.

Karlie Ortega (Jr., San Antonio) and Melissa Heft (So., San Antonio) each recorded double-digit kills with 10 apiece, while Ortega added 17 digs on the day. Paul and Murray both had 16 digs.

The Rattlers will continue to test their luck on the road, traveling to play Newman in Wichita, Kan., at 7 p.m. Thursday.
