WAIKOLOA, Hawaii – Trying their clubs across the sea, the Rattlers are currently fifth after the first round of the Dennis Rose Invitational.

Camille Furgeson (Sr., New Castle, Calif.), who won the Schreiner Fall Classic earlier this month, is heading the Rattlers after Round One tied for 12th place with a score of 82.

Freshman Heather Wedige (San Antonio) was the second Rattler to finish in the top 20, currently tied in 17th place with a score of 85.

Furgeson’s sister, Bailey Furgeson, (So., New Castle, Calif.) is following a few strokes behind, tied for 23rd place after shooting an 88.

St. Mary’s team score of 348 has it with room to move up as fourth-place Saint Martin’s University recorded a 340 for the first round. Grand Canyon University is leading the tournament, which is composed of six teams, with a score of 309 followed by California State University-East Bay and the University of Hawaii-Hilo with scores of 315 and 325, respectively.

The 32 competitors for the tournament have Rattlers Adela Elizonda (Sr., Monterrey, Mexico) and Daryn Petermann (So., Comfort, Texas) tied in 25th place with an 89, followed by Julia Dickens (Jr., Fredericksburg, Texas) tied for 28th place with a score of 90.

The Rattlers will continue to bide for a top finish in the final round of the tournament Tuesday.
