San Antonio – St. Mary’s women’s golfer Bailey Furgeson will enter Tuesday’s final round in contention for a medal at the Lady Rattler Roundup.

Furgeson (Fr., Newcastle, Calif.) carded a six-over-par 78 in the opening round of play at the Dominion Golf Course on Monday, which was good enough to tie for sixth place at St. Mary’s annual event.

Furgeson had a 37 over the back nine, helping put the Rattlers in fifth place of 11 squads in the team standings with a score of 328.

Daryn Petermann (So., Comfort, Texas) had an 82, while senior Alejandra Cantu (Mission, Texas) had a solid 83 on the first day. Adela E. Rodriguez (Jr., Monterrey, Mexico) shot an 85, while Julia Dickens (Jr., Fredericksburg, Texas) came in at 91.

St. Edward’s led the first round with a team score of 303, while Hilltopper Wallis Spears shot a 73 to lead all individuals.

The teams will tee off for the final round at 8:30 Tuesday morning.
