San Antonio – St. Mary’s senior class will prove difficult to replace.

All four of the Lady Rattlers’ women’s soccer seniors earned All-Heartland Conference recognition, with senior midfielder Emilie Snelson leading the way as a First Team selection, it was announced Thursday.

Fellow seniors Leia Kirch, Annia Olivares and Carolyn Martin joined Snelson as Second Team selections, as did Emilie’s younger sister, junior Leah Snelson.

Emilie Snelson (Fairview, Texas) started all 18 games for the Lady Rattlers, who at 9-9 earned a spot in the Heartland Conference Tournament, which is set to begin today in Austin, Texas. The No. 4-seeded Rattlers will play top-seeded St. Edward’s on their home field at 3 p.m. The first-time All-Heartland honoree tallied one goal and four assists, second best on the team, while playing the role as one of the team’s most important glue players.

Making her second All-Heartland Team appearance, Olivares (El Paso, Texas) helped the Lady Rattlers earn four shutouts in her 18 starts as a defensive stalwart. Martin (San Antonio) made a similar impact defensively, adding one assist on the season to make the All-Heartland Team for the first time.

Kirch (Carrollton, Texas) tied Leah Snelson (Dallas) for the team lead with 22 points, tallying a team-high six assists to go along with eight goals. She recorded the first hat trick of her career earlier in the season and recorded two game-winning goals on the season.

The younger Snelson is no stranger to the All-Heartland Team, having made the squad last season in her first year at St. Mary’s. She finished the regular-season with a team-high nine goals in 18 starts to go along with four assists.
