EDMOND, Okla. – St. Mary’s women’s soccer team went into halftime Friday needing a single goal to erase its deficit against Central Oklahoma.

Unfortunately, it didn’t stay that way for long.

The Bronchos used a three-goal second half to break away from the Rattlers, winning 4-0 before 200 fans.

Central Oklahoma (5-3) outshot St. Mary’s (4-2-1) 22-7, with goals from four different players to stun the Rattlers on the road.

UCO’s Stephanie Fleig put the Bronchos on the board with a long shot from 20 yards out in the 18th minute, starting off what would become an impressive offensive attack.

Brittni Walker punched one in from point-blank range in the 62nd minute; Ashton Morris struck from 15 feet away in the 74th minute; and Sarah Purcell scored in the 86th minute to blank St. Mary’s.

St. Mary’s goalkeeper Paola Ostos (So., El Paso, Texas) saved six shots, as did UCO keeper Brandi Bartley in a shutout.

St. Mary’s freshman Kaitie Kasperitis (Corpus Christi, Texas), who recorded a hat trick the last time she hit the field, had two shots, both of which were on goal. Leah Snelson (So., Dallas) also had two shots on goal.

The Rattlers will take on Northeastern State on the road at 11 am. Sunday.
