San Antonio – Matt Vela has been honored as the Heartland Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week after tying for sixth place individually at the St. Edward’s Invitational on Tuesday.
The conference announced the award Wednesday.
Vela, a senior from San Antonio MacArthur High School, led St. Mary’s to third place in the team standings by shooting 220 for the tournament. He followed his first- and- second-round scores of 73 by firing a 74 in the third and final round.
