San Antonio – St. Mary’s softball player Jared Gonzalez has been named the Heartland Conference Co-Hitter of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Gonzalez (So., San Antonio) drove in two runs and hit .667 with a slugging percentage of 1.000 in the Lady Rattlers’ only game last week, a 4-3 loss to nationally ranked Angelo State.
Gonzalez, a first baseman, is batting .366 with 38 RBIs and six home runs this season. She helped lead the Lady Rattlers to the Heartland Conference regular-season title with a 12-3 conference record and overall mark of 33-17.
Top-seeded St. Mary’s will play No. 4-seed Newman in Game 1 of the Heartland Conference Tournament at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Softball Fields. The tournament runs from Thursday-Saturday.
