GOODWELL, Okla. – St. Mary’s pitcher Carl O’Neal struck out 11 and allowed just four hits as the eighth-ranked Rattlers cruised past Oklahoma Panhandle State 11-1 on Saturday.

First baseman Tyler Migl (Jr., San Antonio) drove in three runs on a 2-for-4 outing, while right fielder Jason Garcia (Sr., Falfurrias, Texas) had two RBIs on a 4-for-5 day to help the Rattlers win their fifth straight.

Sweeping Panhandle State (4-36) 3-0, St. Mary’s improved to 34-8 on the year with a Heartland Conference-leading 21-3 conference mark.

O’Neal pitched the entire game, walking one to improve to 5-3 on the season.

The Rattlers jumped on Panhandle State early, as third baseman Reagan Moczygemba (Sr., Bulverde, Texas) and center fielder Billy Richard (So., Schertz, Texas) scored on a first-inning error to take a quick 2-0 lead.

St. Mary’s added another run in the second, two more in the third and three more in the fourth to take a commanding 8-1 lead.

The Rattlers will return to the diamond Tuesday, when they will travel to Kingsville, Texas to play Texas A&M-Kingsville at 6 p.m.
