TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Northeastern State’s three first-half goals set the tone Sunday, as the St. Mary’s men’s soccer team fell 5-0 in the non-conference battle.

NSU’s Andre Hernandez scored the first two goals, while Henry Wildenborg, Neven Vujinovic and Edgar Gonzaga chipped in the next three to stun the Rattlers.

Goalkeeper Patrick Kasperitis (So., Corpus Christi, Texas) recorded six saves in the net for St. Mary’s (1-4, 0-2 Heartland Conference), but it wasn’t enough as NSU kept firing away.

St. Mary’s was outshot 14-7 by its potent opponent, with the Rattlers recording just a single shot on goal compared to 11 from NSU.

St. Mary’s freshman Zach Strater, a Carrollton, Texas native, led the team with three shots.

The Rattlers will return to action Friday, when they host rival St. Edward’s in the annual “Battle of the Saints” showdown at 2 p.m. at Northside ISD Soccer Field.
