ORLANDO – The St. Mary’s men’s golf team is in 16th place after two rounds of the Golfweek Invitational.

The Rattlers shot 607 on Monday, trailing the event leader, Barton College, by just 29 strokes entering Tuesday’s final round.

Jeff Rein (Sr., San Antonio) led the way for St. Mary’s with a 4-over-par 148 through two rounds, good enough for a tie for 27th place.

Fellow senior and San Antonio native Matt Vela shot 149.

Fueled by an opening-round 1-over-par 73, Sam Jernigan (Jr., San Antonio) shot 152 on the day. Chris Becker (Jr., San Antonio) cracked the 70s in the second round, totaling 160.

Tim Paiz (So., San Antonio) shot 163.

Coker College’s Jake Murphy leads the individual standings with a score of 137.
